3D Printing

Maybe the coolest technology to finally reach the general population.  For me 3d printing is a quick and more importantly, affordable way to manifest my imagination.  Its hard to express the satisfaction I feel taking an idea from imagination, to CAD, to print.  So a few years back I picked up a Prusa I3 kit(Chinese) for about $400.  After building the kit I new right away that it was going to need a few mods.  Since then I have experimented with different cooling fan setups, and I built a box with plexi sheets for ABS prints.  The next step is building a new printer with the same 2020 aluminum framework, a direct drive, and larger build volume.  Currently I use Simplify3d for slicing.  Below are some pictures of unboxing, a few cooling setups, and some projects I have undertaken.  I also included two projects(locket and tiara) which were prototyped at home and professionally printed later with Shapeways in nylon using a SLS printer.
